A 25-YEAR-OLD Pakistani man was yesterday fighting for his life after suffering a vicious attack at the hands of a mob in Nicosia on Sunday night. The man was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital, where doctors found his skull had been fractured. The man’s condition is considered to be critical.

Police say the 25-year-old was attacked by several people, most probably compatriots, in a block of flats in Nicosia. According to testimony, the attackers repeatedly battered the victim’s head with iron bars and wooden planks.

A search was carried out at the scene of the incident and evidence was collected for examination. Police also searched the victim’s apartment, where they found five foreigners (two men and three women), who did not have any documents that could prove their identity. They were taken to the offices of Nicosia CID for verification of their documents.

Yesterday, a woman from Indonesia was arrested in connection with the case, and in her possession several false passports and other documents were found.

The police issued an arrest warrant against three Pakistani men, 30-year-old Shahid Mehmood, 27-year-old Khalid Sahi Mohsan Bilal, and Fahid Abrarsahi also 27. All are wanted by police to assist their investigation.
